The goal of this mix is to express the possibilities one can attain in a mix through intelligent planning and overall mix flow targeting. All too often beats are matched cleanly, with not much more involvement, and then it is considered a mix worthy of publication. DJ culture is based upon self promotion and glorification, and the only way to have that is by constantly pushing out mixes that are clean, but void of substance; void of flow. Anyone can beat match in any style and have it sound like something that was meant to be heard, but I challenge the listener to expect something more. Computers are able to automatically mix tracks, beats matched. As a DJ, one needs to push him or herself to re-define the sound scape and possibilities between two similar tracks. Does it play with the senses, does it challenge your mind? Does it make you wonder what the artist did to come to this point? For me, the entire DJ experience is not only the process of creation itself, but the interaction of two songs together to create a body all its own. That interaction is what determines what a mix is made of, and what the listener can and should enjoy in each piece of art presented in this fleeting moment.
